Visual journeys
A little about me
Visual exploration has been a lifelong journey for me. I’ve loved to draw and paint from the start of elementary school. I still create using a brush or pen and ink from time to time. In addition to those old favorites, I enjoy working in a variety of media, photography, video, digital illustration, wood and steel.
I began to study the history and operations of railroads while in high school in Hancock, MI. During college at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design my photographs began to appear in railroad magazines. After graduating from MCAD I went to work for Pentrex Publishing on the magazines Passenger Train Journal and Pacific Rail News. I continue to work as a graphic designer. I live in New Richmond, WI, with my wife, Rachel, and daughters, Abigail and Iris.
If you have an upcoming project or idea that I might help with please reach out through the contact link. From cartography to photographic collaborations I thrive on new challenges and subjects. If you would like to access my work for high resolution stock photo purposes, I regularly add imagery to Adobe Stock. My collection at Adobe can be found at: https://stock.adobe.com/contributor/211598893/dean
Perhaps you’d like to dig into my back catalog, my Flickr collection is the best place for that. I’ve been posting there for 14 years and have 4,000+ images in my Photostream, most with detailed captions. Find them at https://www.flickr.com/photos/view2share/
